Just wanted to make a discussion and avoid spoilers in the multimedia thread.
It's not the first time a see this kind of events.

First of all I'm always impressed of how the chinese are tought, they are always very strong opponent and very hard to defeat.
But being this event in China I think the refereing was just scandalous. The referee was always stopping the fighters in the best moments for the Thais. They lost about 1 minute each round for stupid things.
They were continuosly fixing the elbow protections, the gloves wrappings and other stupid things.
Especially in the fight with Lahkin. He Koed the chinese like 20 times and one of them at the 10 count the chinese was still on the ropes but the referee didn't stop the fight.
I know in Sanda throws make a lot of points but if you get KOed a lot of times during the fight everywhere in the world you lose, instead here the chinese won Shocked

Also I noticed that the chinese were scared about the Thais and their only safety was to run away for all the match and sometimes grab a foot to thow them.
I don't like that if you hit with 10 heavy punches your opponent and he throws you 5 times he makes more points Confused You know that a throw don't damage you as punches do.

What do you think about it? Surprised

Like I expected, the Thais were having a hell of a time dealing with the single and double leg takedowns since it's just something they never have to deal with in their sport. If you don't know how to sprawl well I know it can be damn difficult to avoid being taken down by someone who's practiced a lot of those sorts of takedowns.

The fights were all frustrating as hell to watch for sure. The Thais for the most part seemed to be clobbering the Chinese in striking, but it was too much like having a kickboxer fight in a wrestling/MMA match. The constant adjusting of elbow pads was damn annoying too for sure. Of course, if they ditched the pads Nuangtrakarn would've almost definitely one by opening a cut on his opponent.

I was a bit surprised at the decision of that fight since Nuangtrakarn was elbowing the crap out of his opponent, but I guess the takedowns just mattered that much.

What about the Lahkin fight? It looked like quite a few times he was aiming his knees at the Chinese's groin but it looked like it could've also been the inner thigh, hard to call. Of course his opponent was telling the ref it was to the groin but who knows. I know when he started blocking the knees to the body with his arms Lahkin started going for the legs. I knew Lahkin was gonna lose that match because of all the damn takedowns even though he got 3 knock downs on his opponent. The rules of this event seemed very shaky to me.

At least the Thais got 1 full KO lol

well i had a little chance to see some of this on you tube and it was interesting. I thought that some of the Chinese athletes were pretty decent at evading cut kicks and their take downs surprised me, they even plain threw a couple thai's in the clinch, wich really surprised me. I couldn't tell if they triped them, or just spun them, but they were definately strong. However i felt also that whenever they got into a situation where the thias would have the advantage they stopped it quickly, i never had the oppritunity to watch the thai that knocked his opponent down several times. I definately was frustrated watching this because of the favouring from the Chinese refereeing but either way seeing two athletes that train hard at what they do is always nice to see just wish the thais would have flat out KO'd a couple of these guys to let them know i hope the thais get a coach to teach them the sprawl before next time i think the thais would destroy them then.

I agree with a lot of u guys' opinion. First they should lose the elbow pads and stop fucking around and really get some serious stuff happening (within the next couple years let's see). As for the Chinese guys, I was really impressed. Keep in mind China is a country where physical competition is sort of blase'. (Their soccer team has some of the worlds best players and they bring in world-renowned coaches, but they just don't have a killer instinct, generally).

Because of that reason is why they impressed me. I agree, if the Thai guys just came out with the lowkicks and their usual aggression they would have had somewaht easy wins all the way around. And there was confusion and getting used to in early stages of the matches. But the Chinese guys were surprisingly solid. I think they'd fare ok under Muay Thai (until about half way through) and that in itself is a major accomplishment for them.
