Job Opening - Student Library Clerks

Saint John Free Public Library, 1 Market Square
3 Positions, Duration: 10 weeks, Full time, Temporary.
Criteria: Must be a full time student now and attending school full time in the fall. Under 30. Legally able to work in Canada.
Start Date: June 22
End Date: August 28
Pay: $8.00/hr

Student Library Clerk - Young Adult Programming.
Plan and present teen activities and programs in the Teen Zone, including summer reading club (online or traditional), crafts, quizzes and displays. Develop a file of recommended teen programs and local presenters by researching professional books, the internet and local libraries; Promote teen program participation by being a positive presence in the teen zone thereby connecting with teens already using the library, and networking with teen groups in the community (camps, teen centres) who may not currently use the library.
Additional duties include: updating bibliographies, weeding older books under the supervision of the Circulation supervisor, process donated material for the annual book sale, shelving books, shelf reading, book repair and media repair and cleaning and other duties as assigned.

Student Library Clerk - Computer Tutor
Work tasks and responsibilities
The Computer Tutor would be responsible for planning and publicizing a series of one-on-one tutorials to assist patrons with their computer skills. This would involve, publicizing, conducting sessions, and assessing feedback.
Additional duties include: shelving books, shelf reading, assisting with book repair, updating bibliographies and other duties as assigned.

Student Library Clerk - Literacy Tutor
Work tasks and responsibilities
The Student Library Clerk will organize, present and evaluate a Reading Buddies program for the Main Library. The Reading Buddies program partners teen volunteers with primary school students to read and learn together and make it a fun experience. The student will organize volunteers, publicize the program, offer sessions and look for feedback from participants.
Additional duties include shelving books, shelf reading, assisting with book repair, updating bibliographies and other duties as assigned.
