N.B. gas prices tumble 2 cents

[SIZE="3"]New Brunswick drivers will be saving about two cents a litre when they fill up their tanks Thursday after the Energy and Utilities Board cut pump prices.

The regulatory board dropped the maximum price of regular gasoline to [B][COLOR="Red"]96.57 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre from [B][COLOR="red"]98.62 cents [/COLOR][/B]in its weekly price setting.

Gas stations are allowed to attach a delivery fee. In those cases, stations cannot charge prices higher than 99.4 cents per litre, which is a drop from [B][COLOR="red"]101.5 cents[/COLOR][/B] per litre.

People using diesel will be getting similar relief as the price fell to [B][COLOR="red"]93.97 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre from [B][COLOR="red"]97[/COLOR][/B].35 cents. With the delivery charge, that price could hit 96.8 cents per litre, which is still a savings from last week's [B][COLOR="red"]100.2 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre.

Customers using furnace oil will also be seeing a savings this week. That price has fallen to [B][COLOR="red"]75.36 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre from [B][COLOR="red"]79.72 cents[/COLOR][/B] last week. After the maximum delivery charge, that rate could hit [B][COLOR="red"]81 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre, down from 85.4 cents per litre.

However, some customers will not be better off if they waited to fill up on Thursday.

People using propane will be paying [B][COLOR="red"]86.12 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre, up from [B][COLOR="red"]85.83 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre. If the full delivery charge is added, the price will hit [B][COLOR="red"]97.4 cents [/COLOR][/B]per litre, up from 97.1 cents.

The Energy and Utilities Boards resets its prices each Thursday at 12:01 a.m. based on the previous week's trading at the New York Mercantile Exchange.[/SIZE]
