[B]Hi, Brain:

I believe at this point you already received the email from Mr.BoonKek from ILO department. I have been talking with the two Chinese students who had unfortunately experienced the incident in this afternoon around 1pm. Boon had already clearly described what had happened in the letter to you, I will not go into further details about it.

The incident has been published in www.chineseunb.com by students, which is widely used, and well known among the entire Chinese community in UNB. At this point I believe that many Chinese students already knew about the incident in Tim Horton. I thought Boon did great job in his quick response on it.

What I want to add upon his letter is that this kind of incident has been encountered by many international students. Just now since the afternoon incident was published on the website, I have received similar complains from more than six other Chinese students. This tells us that the case from this afternoon is definitely not an isolated one. The issues of negative attitudes from two of your staffs in Tim Horton and Cafeteria have been discussed among some Chinese students for a while.

With my high respect for you and your staffs, I understand how stress it is for being working in food places whole day, perhaps, some of your staffs should also understand the difficulties may be encountered by international students, who are thousand mails far away from home with good expectancy for their university life in Canada. I really do not want to see that they will carry any kind of shadow from four years foreign study experience in UNBSJ.

As the current president of Chinese Student & Student Association, I will not tolerate any unfairness or any ignorance towards our Chinese students on UNBSJ campus. As Vice President Internal of Student Representative Council in 06/07 term I will take this case into a serious concern for all the students on campus. I will send the statement to all the societies and clubs, for any kind of discriminatory behavior will not be accepted within UNBSJ campus.

I love Boon’s idea on the information session to increase cultural awareness. SRC should assist ILO to make it happen on campus, and I hope that Mr. Kevin Bonner, the Director of Student services would like to help out with it, and I formally believe that you will be part of it.

Thanks!

[B]Hi, Boon:

Thanks for your quick response for the incident happened in Tim Horton this afternoon.

I had read your formal letter to Brian, the Director of Aramark food Service. Your letter has been published in www.chineseunb.com, and it has been widely read by Chinese students. I thought you did great job in the letter with your appropriate informing language, which had presented the concern from ILO for the fairness for all the international students on UNBSJ campus.

I have been talking with the two Chinese students who had reported the incident to you. You have clearly stated in the formal letter what had happened, I will not go in details about it again. What I want to add is that this kind of incident has been encountered by many international students. Just now since the afternoon incident was published on the website, I have received similar complains from more than five other Chinese students. This tells us that the case from this afternoon is definitely not an isolated one.

At this point I am also sending email to Brian. As the current president of Chinese Student & Student Association, I will not tolerate any unfairness or any ignorance towards our Chinese students on UNBSJ campus. As Vice President Internal of Student Representative Council in 06/07 term I will take this case into a serious concern for all the students on campus.
uppppp:thumbs_up :thumbs_up
